Decentraland

Definition

Decentraland is an open virtual world in which land is an Ethereum token that the chain enforces and the operator cannot revoke. It hosted the first Metaverse Fashion Week in March 2022 and is where the category's reference land transaction — 116 parcels for $2.43M — took place.

§ 01

Structure

The world is a fixed grid of parcels, grouped into districts. District matters far more than the world-level average: parcels adjacent to established traffic trade at a large premium, while much outlying land is offered with no bid. Governance sits with a foundation and token holders rather than a company.

§ 02

State today

LAND is down roughly 89% from its 2022 peak, from an average near 1.73 ETH to about 0.18 ETH. Population is measured in thousands of concurrents rather than millions. It remains the world where genuine ownership is most clearly established, and the one where an operator must import the audience.

Our position in Decentraland

Position disclosed: Metaverse Group holds a position in Decentraland. 165 parcels — the 116-parcel Fashion Street estate acquired November 2021, plus 49 acquired February 2022. Held throughout the drawdown.

Disclosed on every page in the estate that discusses this world, generated from one source so it cannot go stale.
