Spatial commerce
Spatial commerce is selling goods inside a three-dimensional space rather than from a page — a storefront a customer walks into, staffed and merchandised, where the item bought may be virtual, physical, or a virtual object carrying a claim on a physical one.
What changes versus a web store
Three things: the customer is present rather than browsing, other customers are visible, and staff can be there. Presence and social proof are the mechanisms a physical shop has always used and a web page never could. The catalogue is not the product — the room is.
Where it works today
Best where footfall already exists and a payout rail is native, which currently means UGC platforms rather than open worlds. The constraint is rarely the technology; it is that a shop nobody walks past sells nothing, in any dimension.
